Agnes graduated from University of Maryland with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Therapy in 1986. Her career began at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center where she worked with stroke and head trauma clients and orthopedic patients. In 1991, she moved to Violand and McNerney, PA, a private practice in Ellicott City, Maryland. Her caseload included sports injuries, work injuries, orthopedic ailments and work in a nursing home and home health clients.  In 1992, Agnes started work at Fine, Bryant and Wah, PC, a private practice in Glen Burnie, MD. She worked as the office manager and clinical coordinator while she continued patient care of work, sport injuries and orthopedic dysfunctions.

In the Autumn 1996, Agnes moved to Virginia and worked as home health therapist for Spectrum Therapy. In 1998, she was promoted by Spectrum Therapy to open and manage an outpatient clinic in Nelson County.  In June 2001, Spectrum Therapy was sold to new owners who downsized operations and in a stroke of misfortune and good fortune, Agnes was fired in August 2001. She had made Nelson County her home and her career changed direction.

In January 2002, Agnes opened her own practice, NELSON PHYSICAL THERAPY (NPT). Initially, she began the practice in one small room adjacent to an exercise facility in Wintergreen Resort. In 2004, NPT expanded to our current location and added fitness programs and massage. Agnes became a certified Yoga Teacher in 2006 studying at the Yoga Center of Columbia in Maryland and began teaching yoga classes. She is certified by Yoga Alliance (RT 200).  In 2008, NPT expanded again to accommodate the growing fitness and wellness services.  A Yoga and exercise studio was created and the massage therapy room was enhanced.

In 2013, NPT changed its’ name to Nelson Wellness Center to reflect its’ services and passion for Total Health. Our mission is to work with the community to rehabilitate injuries and attain wellness through healthy living via fitness, proper nutrition, balance, mindfulness.
